Sometimes where you put your TV isn't always the best location for all occasions. Sure, you've picked out the perfect place on the wall for that new TV, and it works well when you're sitting down right in front, but what happens when you host a party, or want to see the TV from somewhere else?
Music is a huge part of our lives, and these days we all have more choices of where that music comes from than ever! Where does your music come from and how do you enjoy it?
AM Radio, FM Radio, XM/Sirius Radio, HD Radio, Internet Radio, Pandora Radio, Rhapsody, iTunes/iPods, CDs, YouTube, Cell Phones... and that's not even a complete list, but it's a good place to start. Now consider how you enjoy that music... In your car, in or throughout your home, through personal music players/iPods, outdoors, on your computer, through your TV?
Do you know about TruAudio? They're one of our favorite speaker companies, and they also offer multi-zone amplifiers, volume controls, racks, and other gear we use every day.
We usually spec TruAudio speakers into any job we do, and I have a bunch of TruAudio gear throughout my own home. In fact, my home theater has a full 7.1 surround-sound package using the in-ceiling speakers shown here (click the photo for a larger view), and a nice little 8" 100 Watt subwoofer - perfect for my basement, and the sound is fantastic!
Keith and I were talking the other day about the plethora of slate / tablet devices, smart phones, and other cool portable gizmos. As you know, Motorola's Xoom pad is now out, Apple's iPad (and iPad 2) are readily available, Verizon and AT&T both have the iPhone, and a whole host of Android devices are generally available.
One of the things we considered was, can we use these devices to control your home automation system?
The answer was a definite "yes!" But we had a few caveats, too.
